1st post

I don’t like that summer is over. I do enjoy the organization of the class so far. I am also excited about all the tech incorporated into the class.

Week 1

My first impressions of this class are very positive. Gaining new computer skills and having a blended course of online and in-class learning is a little scary, but mostly exciting. Usually with online classes my big worry is that I will somehow miss or forget an important deadline or assignment just by accident. However, because this class is so organized and the course website is so user-friendly compared to blackboard, I’m not very worried this time around. And I’m excited for the group project!

Getting started with WordPress!

I’m excited to dive into WordPress. As I mentioned in class I currently manage an internal property management website for my employer but it is maintained on Google Sites. I used WordPress ~10 years ago and am curious to learn more about it and make my own site!

Blog #1

I am very excited about this course! As many of my classmates may know, I am slightly technologically delayed.  With that said, I hope to learn a lot not only about critical care but also about domains and navigating online courses this semester!

Critical Care Nursing

This is my first official website post. Although the use of technology is intimidating for me because it is all so new, I am excited to become more familiar with the technology and comfortable with using it to aid my learning experience. I feel that once I jump in, I will pleasantly surprise myself with the endless possibilities it offers for a “digital identity”. I like how organized this course seems and how user friendly the course website is. It is nice to be able to see future assignments and due dates in a format that can be updated as needed. I am looking forward to adapting to a blended classroom and learning about the nursing care for a acute patient.

Goleta 420

Today was my first day of this Critical Care Nursing course, and honestly, I have a really great feeling about it. I am most looking forward to learning about how specific disease processes interact with each other in the critically ill patient, and how as a nurse you implement interventions to help maintain stability. The human body is really fascinating to me, so it will be interesting to learn how compensatory mechanisms kick in and the subsequent cascade of events that follow. Our instructor, Jaime, seems to be very knowledgeable on the subject, and has a lot of experience to draw from as she imparts her wisdom to us. She is very tech-savy and I appreciated that she took the time during our first day to ensure we understood how the required technology for the course functioned. I am most excited that this course is being taught as a hybrid, I think it will keep it more interesting. It will also help us become more familiarized with integrating available technologies into not only our nursing studies, but our future nursing practice.

I haven’t yet come across something that I dislike about this course. However, I am worried that when placed in the clinical setting I will blank on the knowledge I’ve acquired from this course. It is my goal to practice stress management so that I can be as efficient a nurse as possible during code situations.
